Director of Bands/Fine Arts Department Chair

About Our Director:

Adrian Jermaine Adams, M. Ed.

Adrian Adams joined the Charleston County School District in August of 2017. He is currently serving in his first year as Director of Bands and Fine Arts Department Chair at North Charleston High School. Prior to this appointment, he served Richland County School District One for 5 years at St. Andrews Middle School as Director of Bands & Instrumental Music, Director of Choral Music at Alcorn Middle School and as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of the Shamrock Steel Drum Symphony at Eau Claire High School. He served as a Visual & Performing Arts curriculum reviser for Music Theory and World Music for the district. Under Mr. Adams' leadership, the Shamrock Steel Drum Symphony was featured in The State Newspaper in 2012, performed on WLTX News 19's Sounds of the Season in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and was requested to perform at many major functions for the school district and the State of South Carolina. With academic excellence, rhythmic styling, genre variety and strong discipline and diligence as performers, the Steel Drum Symphony became a major contributor to the arts within the Richland One School District.

Mr. Adams was also appointed Assistant Director of Bands and Chief Arranger Music at Benedict College in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, under the direction of the late Mr. Herman Jones, Jr., in August of 2012. He served in this position for four years, three of the years part-time and one year full-time. 

Mr. Adams earned the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Instrumental Music from Benedict College and the Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing a second master's degree, the Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Education at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Mr. Adams is most interested in educating the inquisitive minds of our youth and empowering the society through music education.
